Tote Rental Terms of Service

Effective Date: July 30, 2026
Hawkeye Totes & Party Rentals reserves the right to change these terms of service at anytime and for any reason.

1. Reservation & Deposit

A reservation is confirmed only after receipt of a $50.00 reservation deposit. The deposit is applied toward the total rental balance.

2. Cancellation Policy

Reservations canceled within 24 hours of the scheduled delivery date and time forfeit the $50.00 reservation deposit. Cancellations made more than 24 hours in advance receive a full refund of the deposit.

3. Rental Equipment

Rental equipment may include moving totes, tote lids, heavy-duty dollies, Tote Taxi® carts, and other accessories. All equipment remains the property of Hawkeye Totes & Party Rentals.

4. Tote Weight Capacity

Each tote has a maximum recommended capacity of 65 pounds. Exceeding this limit may damage the tote or its contents and may result in replacement charges.

5. Proper Packing & Loading

Do not overload or overstuff totes. Do not force lids closed, throw, drag, or misuse totes. Do not transport hazardous materials or excessively heavy materials such as concrete, bricks, or rocks. Improper packing may damage your belongings or the rental equipment.

6. Safe Stacking

Place heavier totes on the bottom and lighter totes on top. We recommend stacking no more than three totes high. Stacking more than three totes creates a tip-over hazard that may result in property damage, serious injury, or death.

7. Dolly Safety

Do not stand, sit, or ride on any dolly. Dollies are intended only for transporting totes.

8. Tote Security

Zip ties provide an excellent first level of security. Small padlocks may also be used if they fit through the locking holes without damaging the tote.

9. Equipment Delivery & Return

Totes are delivered nested with lids stacked on top. Equipment should be prepared for pickup in the same nested configuration.

10. Clean & Sanitized Equipment

All totes are cleaned and sanitized by Hawkeye Totes between rentals. Return equipment in good, rentable condition. Chemical spills or contamination should be cleaned immediately. Permanently damaged or contaminated totes may be assessed replacement charges.

11. Rental Extensions

Contact the office before your scheduled pickup if additional rental time is needed. Extensions are subject to availability and payment of additional rental charges.

12. Lost, Missing & Damaged Equipment

Replacement Charges:
• Tote or Tote & Lid: $20.00 each
• Tote Lid Only: $10.00 each
• Heavy-Duty Dolly: $100.00 each
• Tote Taxi®: $50.00 each

Any tote not available at pickup will be considered lost and charged $20.00. Substituting another brand or size of tote is not permitted and will result in a $20.00 replacement charge for each missing Hawkeye Tote.

13. Packing & Moving Supply Sales

Packing supplies such as packing tape, bubble wrap, packing paper, stretch wrap, labels, mattress bags, and similar consumable moving supplies are sold as retail merchandise.

All packing and moving supply sales are final. Purchased consumable products are non-refundable and non-returnable, whether opened or unopened.

14. Customer Responsibilities

Customers agree to use equipment safely, return it in good rentable condition, have it available for pickup at the scheduled time, and promptly report any lost, stolen, or damaged equipment.

15. Limitation of Liability

Hawkeye Totes & Party Rentals is not responsible for damage caused by improper packing, overloaded totes, unsafe stacking, misuse of rental equipment, theft of customer belongings, or injuries resulting from misuse.

16. Acceptance of Terms

By reserving equipment, paying a deposit, accepting delivery, or using any rental equipment, the customer acknowledges that they have read and agree to these Terms of Service.
